Familiar

Choose any small creature as your familiar (raven, cat, snake, rat, etc.). Your familiar:

  • Can perform simple tasks without AP cost (scout, deliver items, fetch objects)
  • Has empathic bond within 100 feet (sense emotions/general state)
  • Zero combat capabilities - uses Witch’s stats for avoiding attacks/damage
  • Has 2 RP of their own to use per round
  • Re-summoning: 1-hour ritual to re-summon if lost/killed (must be same species)

Forbidden Insight

Study a target for 5 minutes to learn one secret about them. Choose from:

Combat Options:

  • Weakness: Advantage on your next spell against them this round
  • Vulnerability: Your spells against them gain +3 damage, +1 round duration, or +2 Persistent damage (whichever applies)

Non-Combat Options:

  • Secrets: Learn either what they want most OR their most important relationship
  • Leverage: Advantage on Influence checks to manipulate them

Blood Magic

Frequency: Once per day
Sacrifice HP to gain mana at 5:1 ratio (5 HP per 1 mana gained). This represents dangerous blood magic that weakens you to fuel your spells.

Bonded Souls

Your connection with your familiar deepens:

  • Telepathic Connection: Communicate in thoughts at any range
  • Shared Senses: See and hear through your familiar’s senses
  • Health Share: Choose to take damage instead of your familiar to keep it alive

Path Selection (Level 5)

At Level 5, Witches must choose their specialization path:

  • Hexweaver Path specializes in curse magic and sustained debuff effects. They excel at maintaining multiple curses simultaneously and spreading their malefic influence across the battlefield.
  • Blood Witch Path specializes in life magic and HP manipulation. They excel at using their own vitality as a resource while supporting allies through blood bonds and life transfer.

Hexweaver Path

Hex Mastery

You master the art of layered curses:

  • Multiple Sustaining: Can sustain 2 spells simultaneously instead of 1
  • Curse Transfer: When a target with your sustained spell dies, transfer the effect to another enemy within 3 hexes

Extended Hexes

Your curses resist dispelling through sheer malevolent persistence. Sustained spells last 1 extra round after you stop sustaining them, giving you a buffer to switch between different curse targets.

Familiar Hex

When casting a sustained hostile spell, you can spend +1 mana to target your familiar instead of an enemy. While your familiar carries this spell, all enemies adjacent to your familiar are affected by the spell for as long as they remain adjacent. The spell cannot transfer on death of affected enemies or the familiar.

Blood Arts

You learn to manipulate life force as both weapon and gift:

  • Lifesteal Metamagic: Spend +1 mana on any spell to heal for 25% of damage dealt
  • HP Transfer: Transfer your HP to willing allies within 6 hexes as a free action

Improved Blood Magic

Your mastery of blood magic grows with your power. Blood Magic can now be used multiple times per day based on your Blood Witch Class Tier:

  • Journeyman (5-9): 2 uses per day
  • Expert (10-13): 3 uses per day
  • Master (14-16): 4 uses per day
  • Legendary (17-20): 5 uses per day

Range: Touch
Check: Spellcasting skill check

Touch blood to divine information about whoever shed it. Learn information based on success level:

Information Options:

  1. Combat Capabilities - Approximate level, dangerous abilities, resistances
  2. Current Condition - Injuries, diseases, magical effects currently affecting them
  3. Recent Actions - What they’ve done in the last few hours
  4. Emotional State - Current fears, goals, mental condition

Success Levels:

  • Normal Success: Choose 1
  • Hard Success: Choose 2
  • Major Success: Choose 3
  • Critical Success: Get all 4
